After reading the above article, do you still believe the Akita is the right dog for you and your family?  Before you answer "yes", have you familiarized yourself with the AKC Breed Standard and The Akita Club of America's Breed Rescue article on temperament?  Have you learned what health problems can occur or are prevalent in this breed?  No?  Then I strongly suggest you read the Akita Club of America's articles on health problems.  Articles posted on either of these aforementioned sites are very educational and will assist you in making the right decision.
